Dusting off Old Projects with New Eyes

Generative AI has brought an old idea back from the Dead!

Back in 2004 I had concepted my next animated short film I had then called "Invasion".  I even had a production blog you can see how intermittently over the next seven years I chipped away at a proof-of-concept teaser.  It was meant to work out the style and action and get people stoked on it.   However, doing it by hand, as a one man band was extremely time consuming.  More time than I had.

Over the years my tastes matured, and I kept revisiting designs with a new eye and re-designing them.   It wasn't until 2011 when I finally acknowledged that I didn't have the motivation to complete the teaser.  Let alone an entire short film.

In the years since the story has evolved and the name was changed to what it is now.  "The Chronicles of Oklahoma Shay."   Or just "Oklahoma Shay".  Meant to be a period pulp action adventure series, I've always been chipping away in the back of my mind at the project.

Recently, I have assembled the property into a one-pager and have started to shop it around:

Then recently, I've been working on full-animated content generated with proprietary AI as animation tools..   I thought, hmm.. I wonder.    So I took the notes I had and feed it into the system and asked it to build the Teaser.    Now, the following is just the raw output.. and will need several 'reshoots' of shots.. and some adjustments for some of the artifacts..   But I must say.. Something that has been rattling around in my head for years.. I was able to generate as designed!   It's amazing what a HUGE weight has been lifted.  LOL... just to get this off my chest.  The one project I never finished.  Now again, I know it's AI slop.. but I only spent about an hour producing this.. and Version 1 is done!  so after 22 years I present you the teaser for Oklahoma Shay!
